The steamers are also oven safe to 425 degrees!

Our Register Dietician has done extensive research on microwave cooking. Here’s a summary of her results:

Review of available literature showed that vitamin retention in microwaved foods is equal or better than in conventionally prepared foods because of the shorter heating time of microwave cooking. Minerals are generally not destroyed during microwave cooking. Steamed vegetables tend to maintain more nutrients when microwaved.

I just did two eggs in my rectangular silicone steamer with red and green peppers and onion finely chopped along with 1 tsp of fajita seasoning to make egg burritos. I cooked for 1 minute and stirred. Cooked for one more minute and stirred. They seemed done at this point so I didn’t cook any longer.

    They turned out very nicely!

Incidentally, I assume the above recipes (looking at quantities of ingredients) call for the large steamer.

I sincerely hope you plan to put a recipes link on the Epicure website specifically for the steamers. If so, I also hope that you will have identical recipes for the two sizes.
